N2 Biomedical offers a number of surface treatment and coating solutions to improve wear and fretting corrosion resistance of metallic and polymeric substrates, including titanium, CoCr, stainless steel, UHMWPU, and PEEK. Our flagship IonGuard process based on ion implantation treatment has been used widely to improve the surface hardness and wear resistance of millions of titanium and CoCr-based orthopedic implants as well as many other devices used in non-medical applications.

We also offer a wide variety of hard ceramic coatings deposited using our proprietary low temperature Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD) process. These ceramic coatings can be applied to virtually any metallic, polymer, or ceramic substrate. Some of the wear and/or corrosion resistant coatings we offer include, TiN, Al2O3, ZrO2, ZrN, TiC,TiCN, TiON, DLC, Si3N4, TiON, AlN, AlON, TiO2, and SiO2.
